Using Coming to America by Betsy Maestro, students will create a Venn Diagram on Keynotes comparing/contrasting how immigration would make a person feel happy, sad or both.
examples:
1. Same: when you leave your country, you might be happy (because you're going to a new beginning) and sad (because you're leaving friends and maybe family behind), so "leaving your country" would be in the same column.
2. Happy: receiving your entry card at Ellis Island
3. Sad: being sent back to your own country because you were permanently ill
